Sainte-Cécile, the red cathedral
At seventy-eight metres high, the Sainte-Cécile Cathedral of Albi is the largest brick cathedral in the world. Inside, you are stunned: blue-painted vaults from floor to ceiling, a lace-like stone rood screen, a monumental organ. Entering this vessel together, looking up and talking softly already makes a memorable date. Right next to it, the Berbie Palace extends the visit above the Tarn.
Toulouse-Lautrec Museum
Born in the town, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec has his largest collection gathered at the Berbie Palace, a museum as striking as his canvases. Moulin Rouge posters, Paris-night portraits and intimate sketches are discovered together. The palace’s formal French-style hanging gardens then offer a gentle break with a view over the river.
Pont-Vieux and the Tarn banks
The Pont-Vieux, built in the 11th century, has crossed the Tarn for nearly a thousand years. From its cobbles, the view over the cathedral and episcopal town is unforgettable. The developed riverbanks below can be walked or sailed by gabare, one of the finest dates in Albi. On Lyad, members from Albi share their favourite cafés and riverside walks; it is up to you to find someone to taste them with.
